    Wish there was no reason to write this sad note. Uncle Harry was so special to all of us. He will be sadly missed by all His family and friends. Merny, Lucille, & Timmy & all your family, just know that you are in our prayers and thoughts at this very sad time. Love and Blessings, Diana

    I am deeply sorry to hear of Harry's passing. He was a great fellow, I really enjoyed hearing his railroad stories, he was a wealth of knowledge about the Virginian. May the Lord be with you in times such as these.

    Harry will be missed by all of my family, he will all ways be a railroaderror witch I know he loved but with Harry family came first and he was my mom's brother that she talked about all the time, he was the best

    Harry Eugene “Harry Mac” McLaughlin, 91, of Victoria, Va. died Oct. 15, 2016. He was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Boyle McLaughlin; son of the late, Willie Everette McLaughlin and Lucille Duncan McLaughlin; brother of the late, Willie Everette McLaughlin, Jr.,Elsie McLaughlin Heslep, Louis Collin McLaughlin and Phillip Meade McLaughlin. Harry Mac was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children, Lucille Duncan McLaughlin Gatling, Mary Ellen McLaughlin Merny Erby (Gordon) and Timothy Everettte McLaughlin; four grandchildren, Kathleen Regan Clark Layne (Mike), Matthew Harman Gatling (Stephanie), Adam Thomas Erby and Collin McLaughlin Erby; great-granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth “Libbie” Layne; brother, F. Clyde McLaughlin (Barbara) and sister, Naomi McLaughlin Funckhouser. Harry Mac went to work on the Virginian Railroad and later retired as a conductor for Norfolk and Southern. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was aboard the USS Raven, a minesweeper, during the invasion of Normandy on D-day and later in the invasion of Southern France. Harry Mac enjoyed farming and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9954. The family will receive friends at all times at Merny and  Gordon’s home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Victoria Baptist Church. Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria. On line condolences may be made at www.staplesfh.com
