As a lineman for Northern Neck Electric Co-op, I had great respect for Ron.He was a stickler on safety and and didn't hold back when we made mistakes, but it was for our own good, because he wanted all of us to return home safely to our families.

Ron was a fine Christian gentleman and a wonderful role model for all of us who were fortunate enough to work with him. Literally hundreds of line workers are able to return home safely every night thanks to the outstanding safety training they received from Ron. He will be sorely missed. We will keep all of his loved ones in our prayers during this difficult time. Richard & Blair Johnstone

I worked with this sweet teddy bear of a man for many years at VMDAEC. You could always count on Ron to do a great job while adding humor to any situation. He was a wonderful stand up guy. Condolences to Wanda and the large extended Campbell family.

My sincerest condolences to Ronnie's family. I got to know Ronnie through my work at ODEC and volunteering at the linemen's rodeo. He was such a nice man, and it was very obvious that he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. May you be comforted by all the wonderful memories of a life well-lived.

Ronald Trenton Campbell was born on May 24, 1944 in Johnston City, Tennessee to Lenna and Joe Glover. He passed away peacefully at his home on 4/30/2022 with his family beside him. His strong beliefs and faith ensure that he will walk in heaven with god. He graduated from Gordon High school. He then followed high school to his NFL career with the Atlanta Spartans until an unfortunate knee injury put him out of the game. He met the love of his life Wanda in College Park, Georgia. They were married on May 20, 1975. Ronnie and Wanda have been married for 47 years. They had 3 children, Ray Ellis, Janet Canaday (Kevin), and Scott Campbell (Mitzi). 4 grandchildren, Renotta Jernigan, Krystal Green (James), Brittney Ellis Ryan (Eric), and Kristen Canaday and 9 great grandchildren. Ronnie and Wanda moved frequently during his lengthy career and have many lifelong friends throughout the country. Ronnie retired in 2014 from VA, MD, DE Association Electrical Coop and went to Mecklenburg Electric and retired from there in 2017 after a 55 year career in the power industry. Ronnie had taken a break from the electrical industry and became a police officer for 5 years during which time he was named officer of the year. He returned to the electrical industry and worked his way up the ladder to become a very successful safety and training coordinator and eventually become Vice President of that department. He was a devoted Christian and served as Lay preacher for many years at Mount Zion Church in Chase City, Va. Ronnie’s kindness and generosity was bountiful and he was loved by everyone. He would tirelessly volunteer to help others.  Ronnie never missed an opportunity to witness to all he crossed paths with. Ronnie was an avid outdoorsman and loved to shoot, garden, and just spend time outside tending to his yard. Ronnie was loved and respected by all who knew him across the country and will be missed. Ronnie was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, 4111 Darvills Road, Blackstone, VA where the family will receive friends Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 4PM until start of services at 5PM.
